If you require an air-conditioned vehicle the price will go up. The bigger one has a minimum rates also . Taxis from the airport and railway stations even if they are prepaid costs little more .The fare is calculated on the basis of the distance between two places .If you take a taxi from air port to the farm the distance is 50 kms and you pay RS.700.If you use the same taxi also to go back after half an hour you pay the same amount .The cost of the taxi varies a lot in India depending upon the increase in fuel prices and the price shown here are general indices of the cost , Also they have hourly rates if your hire involves more waiting than running .Some travel agents offer a discount for the taxi costs if they use or book of the facilities they offer as part of a deal .So the general taxi drivers will not come for that price This is mentioned to avoid a difference of opinion with the drivers after engaging a taxi and most of them do not speak well enough in English and there also drivers having exceptional skill in language as well as guest handling . | Getting there and away Possible by Public Transport as well as Taxis Approximate distances and time taken are given . Muvattupuzha is the closest town if you are coming from Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alleppey, Thrissur and Calicut. If you are coming from Periyar the closest town is Thodupuzha. Frequent private buses that pass through Kadalikad link these two towns. Ernakulam: By KSRTC bus from Central bus stand to Thodupuzha and get off at Kadalikad or bus to Muvattupuzha and change bus to Thodupuzha and get off at Kadalikad. (55 Kms 1½-2 hrs) Public transport is reasonably good and cheap. Taxis are also available Airport: Cochin International / Domestic Airport — Kalady – Perumbavoor – Muvattupuzha – Kadalikad by taxi or bus. (50 Kms 1-1½ hrs) Prepaid Taxis available at the Airport. Trivandrum: By train to Kottayam and then by bus to Muvattupuzha (KSRTC bus) or by bus direct to Muvattupuzha. From Muvattupuzha take the bus to Thodupuzha and get off at Kadalikad (220 Kms 5 hrs) Kottayam: Buses going to North Kerala such as Thrissur, Calicut, Palakkad, Coimbatore pass through Muvattupuzha. From there change bus to Thodupuzha and get off at Kadalikad. (65 Kms 2 hrs) Alternatively Bus to Thodupuzha and change bus to Muvattupuzha and get off at Kadalikad.You can also use Taxi ,which is faster and shorter and the route is Kottayam-Pala-Thodupuzha -Kadalikad on the way to Muvattupuzha. Alleppey: Bus or Boat to Kottayam and from there as above OR bus to Muhamma then boat to Kumarakom and from there bus to Kottayam - Muvattupuzha. Calicut: Bus to Muvattupuzha and private bus to Thodupuzha and get off at Kadalikad. (220 Kms 5 hrs) Mysore: Bus to Calicut and as above Coimbatore: Go by train to Thrissur, take bus to Muvattupuzha - and as above OR bus to Palakkad change to buses going to south via Muvattupuzha and as above. (220Kms 5½ hrs) Munnar: Buses to Thodupuzha going via Muvattupuzha will pass through Kadalikad. OR bus to Kothamangalam and frequent onward buses from there to Thodupuzha or Muvattupuzha. (105 Kms 3½ hrs) Periyar: Some direct buses are available to Thodupuzha from where there are frequent buses to Muvattupuzha pass through Kadalikad. Alternatively frequent buses are available via three routes: (4-5 hrs) 1. Kumaly - Kattappana - Thodupuzha (139 Kms) 2. Kumaly - Ponkunnam - Pala Thodupuzha (135 Kms) 3 Kumaly - Kanjirapally- Erattupetta -Thodupuzha -128 Kms |
